Built in the style of a Manor House making it one of the most distinctive hotels in Northumberland. Overlooking the Derwent Valley, this beautiful hotel is located within easy reach of Newcastle and Durham.

Derwent Manor is set in 20 acres of land and the interior is every bit as impressive as its exterior. Most of the spacious en-suite bedrooms have timber-beamed ceilings and all have one or two double beds. Guinevere's Restaurant, with its huge open fire, serves a range of English and continental cuisine in stylish surroundings, while hearty bar meals can be enjoyed in our Grouse & Claret pub. For the corporate requirements or for social occasions and weddings, the hotel boasts a range of Conference and Banqueting Suites seating up to 300 guests. Leisure Club (opened October 2003) with indoor pool, sauna, spa bath and fitness centre. For modern, professional and friendly service in a grand setting, any visit to Derwent Manor will be a memorable one.

Most of our rooms have timber-beamed ceilings and are classically decorated.

Gibside (12 km) - The important early 18th-century landscaped park contains a chapel - an outstanding example of Palladian architecture, built to a design by James Paine as the mausoleum for members of the Bowes family. It stands at one end of the Great Walk of Turkey oaks

Tanfield Railway (15 km) - A 3-mile working steam railway and the oldest existing railway in the world. The Causey Arch, the first large railway bridge of its era, is the centrepiece of a deep wooded valley, with picturesque walks. You can ride in carriages that first saw use in Victorian times

Corbridge Roman Site and Museum (17 km) - Originally a fort, which evolved into a prosperous town during the Roman era. An excellent starting point to explore Hadrian's Wall. The museum houses a fascinating collection of finds.

Prudhoe Castle (13 km) - Explore the romantic remains of this 13th-century fortress perched on a steep wooded spur rising above the Tyne and set in lovely grounds.

Directions:
Derwent Manor is on the main a68 Darlington to Corbridge Road within easy reach of Durham and Newcastle. From the North, travelling on a68 from Edinburgh - Follow the a68 to Darlington (south). Follow the a68 for approximately 11 miles and Derwent Manor is on the left hand side of the road at the bottom of the hill. From the North, travelling on a1 - Follow the a1 signposted to Newcastle Upon Tyne and join a69 to Hexham. Take first exit signposted a68 to Darlington and follow directions as above. From the South, travelling on a1 - Take Junction 58 signposted a68 to Corbridge and follow a68 for 29 miles. The hotel is on the right hand side of a68 located one mile north of Castleside. From the West, travelling on a69 from Carlisle - Follow a69 to Hexham until junction signposted a68 to Darlington. Continue on a68 (south) for approximately 11 miles and hotel is on left hand side at bottom of hill.
