The hotel advises that from 01 July 2007, the Ambleside Salutation Hotel will be completely non-smoking, including the guest bedrooms.

Each of our en suite bedrooms is tastefully decorated, non-smoking and offers the facilities listed in "room descriptions" as well as power showers. Club rooms are also available upon request.

Dove Cottage & The Wordsworth Museum (4 km) - Dove Cottage was the inspirational home of William Wordsworth for over eight years, and it was here that he wrote some of his best-known poetry. The cottage has been open to the public since 1891, and is kept in its original condition.
Hill Top (9 km) - Beatrix Potter wrote many Peter Rabbit books in this little 17th-century house, which contains her furniture and china.
Blackwell The Arts & Crafts House (10 km) - Blackwell was designed by architect M H Baillie Scott (1865-1945) and completed in 1900. Part of the late 19th-century Arts and Crafts Movement it houses changing exhibitions of high quality applied arts and crafts, as well as original design features
Rydal Mount and Gardens (2 km) - The family home of William Wordsworth from 1813 until his death in 1850. The house contains important family portraits, furniture, and many of the poet's personal possessions, together with first editions of his work. Steam Yacht Gondola (10 km) - Launched in 1859, the graceful Gondola worked on Coniston Water until 1936. She came back into service in 1980, and visitors can once again enjoy her silent progress and old-fashioned comfort.
Brantwood (12 km) - Brantwood, home of John Ruskin, is a beautifully situated house with fine views across Coniston Water. Inside, there is a large collection of Ruskin paintings and memorabilia, and visitors can enjoy delightful nature walks through the Brantwood Estate.
Abbot Hall Art Gallery (19 km) - The ground floor rooms of this splendid house have been restored to their former glory, with original carvings and fine panelling. The walls are hung with paintings by Romney, Gardner, Turner and Ruskin. The gallery features notable temporary exhibitions

From South:
J36 from M6, follow A591 to Ambleside. Follow one way system into town center, at lights turn right and the hotel is on the left.
