The Best Western Abbey Hotel is ideally located for guests to enjoy all the quintessential English uniqueness of Bath. Situated in the heart of Bath, close to the Abbey, Roman Baths, shops and theatre.

Originally built as a wealthy merchants' house in the 1740's, the Abbey Hotel re-opened in 1990 following a full refurbishment, which included returning the front of the hotel to its original splendour. Each of the 60 bedrooms has been recently refurbished to create a 'homely' feel.

The hotel is located immediately behind Bath Abbey, a minutes walk from the town centre.

Our award-winning Number One North Parade restaurant, has a varied menu which changes seasonally. Wines are sensibly priced and service is unhurried.

Restaurants and Bars
The award winning Number One North Parade is on the ground floor of the hotel. The menu is seasonal and varied, using fresh local produce.

Breakfast is served from 8.00 to 10.00 Saturdays and Sundays.

Our restaurant is entirely non-smoking.

Roman Baths & Pump Room (0 km) - The remains of the Roman baths and temple give a vivid impression of life nearly 2000 years ago. Built next to Britain's only hot spring, the baths served the sick, and the pilgrims visiting the adjacent Temple of Sulis Minerva.

At-Bristol (18 km) - For the interactive adventure of a lifetime head for At-Bristol's three attractions on the city's habourside. A clever fusion of sci-fi architecture and historic buildings are home to 'Wildwalk', a breathtaking journey through the plant and animal kingdom

Bath Abbey (0 km) - The 15th-century abbey church was built on the site of the Saxon abbey where King Edgar was crowned in 973. The church is Perpendicular style with Norman arches and superb fan-vaulting. The famous West Front carvings represent the founder-bishop's dream

Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery (19 km) - Regional and international collections representing ancient history, natural sciences, and fine and applied arts. Displays include dinosaurs, Bristol ceramics, silver, Chinese and Japanese ceramics. A full programme of Special Exhibitions take place

Museum of Costume (1 km) - The Museum of Costume is one of the finest collections of fashionable dress in the world, covering the period from the late 16th-century to the present day. It is housed in Bath's famous 18th-century Assembly Rooms designed by John Wood the Younger

The Courts (11 km) - Weavers came to The Courts to have their disputes settled until the end of the 18th century. The house is not open, but it makes an attractive backdrop to the gardens - a network of stone paths, yew hedges, pools and borders with a strange, almost magical feel

Bristol Industrial Museum (18 km) - The museum is housed in a converted dockside transit shed. Motor and horse-drawn vehicles from the Bristol area are shown, with locally built aircraft and aero-engines. Railway exhibits include the industrial locomotive Henbury.

SS Great Britain (19 km) - Built and launched in Bristol in 1843, the SS Great Britain, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, was the first ocean-going, propeller-driven, iron ship. After a life as a passenger liner, troop transport and cargo carrier, she was abandoned in the Falklands

Maritime Heritage Centre (19 km) - Exploring 200 years of Bristol shipbuilding, with special reference to Charles Hill & Son, and their predecessor, James Hillhouse. At the Great Western Dock the museum forms part of the <04SS Great Britain<01 and John Cabot's <04Matthew<01 experience.

Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Museum & Village (17 km) - Lacock Abbey was the venue for a series of innovative photographic experiments by William Henry Fox Talbot. The Abbey was founded in the 13th century. At the Dissolution it was sold to William Sharington, who destroyed the church

Directions:
Exit the m4 at junction 18. Follow signs for Bath on the a46 for approximately 8 miles. Bear left at the bottom of the hill for the City Centre (a46). Turn right at the roundabout on the a46 onto the a4. Continue for approximately 2 miles, passing Safeway on your left - keep in the left hand lane once past Safeway. At the tall traffic lights, turn left off the a4 into Bathwick Street (a36) signed for Bristol and Exeter. Cross over the bridge and passed the fire station on your left. At the mini roundabout, turn right into Pulteney Road. Continue straight over the next roundabout. Turn right at the traffic lights, using the filter lane, into North Parade; The Abbey Hotel is at the end of North Parade, opposite the traffic lights.

Bath is approximately 10 miles from the M4. The route indicated avoids the Bus Gates.
