Tate Modern (9 km) - The Tate Modern is a museum of modern art housed in a building, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, which used to be the Bankside Power Station. Opened in 2000 by the Queen, Tate modern has a collection of modern art from 1900 to the present day and includes works by Dali, Picasso and Warhol amongst others. There are seven floors of exhibits with excellent views over London from the top floor overlooking the Thames. Tower of London (11 km) - The Tower of London was founded by William the Conquerer almost 1,000 years ago. A huge stone stronghold - In places the tower is nearly 100 feet heigh and its walls 15 feet thick - the tower was built on the banks of the River Thames to protect London and to assert the power of the King. It continued to house English Kings and Queens until after the death of Henry VII in 1509. Its use as a prison began in the reign of Henry III and in 1303 it served as a treasury when the crown jewels were moved here from Westminster Abbey and they remain here to this day. The Tower of London was still used as a prison as recently as World War II. Many famous prisoners have been executed here including Thomas More, Lady Jane Grey and Anne Boleyn, whose ghost is said to haunt the tower. The tower is also famous for the yeoman guards, or 'Beefeaters', and for the Ravens - according to legend, at least 6 ravens must remain here or the Tower and the monarchy will fall

From East Putney Tube Station (District line towards Wimbledon):
As you exit East Putney Tube Station, turn right. Follow the Upper Richmond Road for 200 metres and the hotel is on the left. This should take 1-3 minutes by foot.
From Putney mainline Train Station (Direct train from London Waterloo, Clapham Junction):
As you exit Putney Station, turn left. Walk 20 metres and turn left at Foxtons Estate Agent onto the Upper Richmond Road. Follow the road straight, passing East Putney Underground Station on the right. Continue straight for another 200 metres, and the hotel is on the left. This journey should take 5 -10 minutes by foot.
By Car:
From the M3, Twickenham, Richmond:
- Take M3 towards central London.
- Then follow the A316 towards Richmond.
- As entering Richmond, at roundabout continue on A316 to central London.
- At Chalkers corner, turn right (signposted South Circular, Clapham Junction).
- At traffic lights turn left on A205 (signposted Putney, Clapham Junction).
- Continue on A205 through East Sheen past Rosslyn Park Rugby Stadium.
- Cross over Putney High Street, past East Putney Underground Station (on the right and hotel is 200 yards on left-hand side).
From Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport, M25:
- Leave the M25 at junction 10 (signposted London SW).
- Take the A3 towards London.
- At Tibbets corner junction, branch left on A219 (signposted Hammersmith, Fulham, Putney) {If you miss this, continue down West Hill and turn left at next lights to join Upper Richmond Road}.
- Continue down Putney Hill, entering Putney.
- At main traffic lights at top of Putney High Street, turn right onto South Circular A205 signposted Wandsworth.
- Continue past East Putney Underground station (on the right) and the hotel is 200 yards on the left-hand side.
From M4, A4:
- Leave the M4 at junction 2.
- Join the A4 (signposted south circular).
- Follow signs for south circular/ A205.
- Continue following signs for Clapham Junction, Putney.
- Entering Putney, cross over Putney High Street.
- Continue past East Putney Underground station (on the right) and the hotel is 200 yards on left-hand side.
From central London:
- Cross to south of River Thames (Wandsworth or Putney).
- If taking Wandsworth bridge: follow signs to Putney A205 (branch right on West Hill) and the hotel is on the right-hand side.
- If taking Putney Bridge: Continue up Putney High Street, at main traffic lights at top of Putney High Street turn left onto South Circular A205, signposted Wandsworth.
- Continue past East Putney underground station (on the right) and hotel is 200 yards on the left-hand side.
By Bus:
The following buses all go to Putney High Street: No14, 39, 74, 85, 93, 424, 430, 485, (or N10 or N74 at night) from different parts of London. At the top of Putney High Street, at crossroad of Upper Richmond Road, you can change to the No. 37 or 337 towards Clapham Junction and get off at the bus stop named Manfred Road. The hotel is next to this bus stop. You can also take the 37 or 337 from Clapham junction towards Putney. Get off at Manfred Road and the hotel is next door.
